Pumpkin Patch!

Friday we headed out to Bob's Corn and Pumpkin Farm for the morning with several families from Caroline's class.
We took a hay ride through the country side.  It helped me to feel like I was back in Idaho for a brief moment.  When I closed my eyes and breathed deep of the diesel exhaust from the tractor and bumped along through the field I might as well have been in potato harvest.
And then we hopped off in the pumpkin patch to pick our pumpkins.  Caroline could not break her pumpkin off of the vine, so a little boy from her class came to her rescue.

Nora stomped around looking for the perfect pumpkin for a time.
 Scarecrow pose.
 Yoga pose.
The class waiting to go for a ride "in the cows".

Farmer Bob himself drove the kids around on the cow ride.
Nora refused to go on the ride by herself, so they assured me I could squeeze into a cow with her, yippee for me.
Bob got a little free with the ride.  He really whips those cows around at top speed!
After disembarking from the cows, we entered the two corn mazes.  Fun, fun!

Most Octobers around these parts we'd be slogging through mud in our rain boots and guarding the camera under rain coats.  Not this year.  The dirt was dry and dusty as could be.  The sun was bright and hot.  The pumpkins were nice and ripe.

Bob's Farm  has a great playground, an old barn filled with tricycles and bikes for the kids to ride around inside a track, photo ops and yummy food.
Unfortunately for us, the food stands weren't open yet.  As a rule I always pack a lunch when we go places.  Even to the fair--where most people go to buy food--I pack a lunch to save money.  But this particular morning I thought I'd go wild and free and plan to buy lunch at the farm.  Oops.  The girls were, of course, staaaaaarving.
So we went in the country store and bought a make shift lunch of champions--fresh honey crisp apples for each of us, a LARGE bag of white cheddar popcorn and a chocolate bar.  And oh, that chocolate bar.  Let me tell you, I've been dreaming about it ever since.  It was a milk chocolate caramel apple chocolate bar.  The girls are pretty lucky that they got ANY : )
If you live driving distance to Snohomish, WA I recommend Bob's Corn and Pumpkin Farm!  Don't forget to buy some goodies from the store.

Looks like fun! Glad you enjoyed your cow ride. Ha! Justin is planning to go there at the end of the month with some 5th-6th graders. I'm sure they'll be needing their boots by then. :)

Can't believe it's that time of year again!! That looks like a VERY fun farm with very tame cows! I think this year I'm going to have to settle with going to the store for pumpkins ;).
